Katie, a freelance video editor desperate for work, receives a well-paid offer from an anonymous employer to edit a cryptic and bizarre video. Short on money and facing eviction, Katie gladly accepts the job. The video shows people being tortured and even killed on camera – surely it’s all an elaborate, staged fiction. But when her first job results in even more lucrative contracts and even more disturbing snuff films, Katie’s life begins to unravel. Strange figures in her apartment, terrible nightmares keep her awake at night, and a mysterious illness torments her cat. Only when Katie decides to quit her job for good does she discover just how cruel her anonymous employer really is and what bloody measures they’re willing to take to get out of her contract.
